10 Most Promising Energy & Utility Tech Companies - 2022

The Energy and Utilities Industry globally covers electric generation: transmission, distribution and retailing, transmission, distribution and retailing of natural gas and water services provision. In today's changing energy landscape, business leaders recognize that sustainability is fundamental to remain competitive. As the energy industry shifts to a more ecosystem-centric model to combat climate change, investing in sustainable energy sources helps engage business and people to participate in the change. Utilize the latest technologies to ensure your utility is ready for the new energy ecosystem. The Indian renewable energy sector is the fourth most attractive renewable energy market in the world. India was ranked fourth in wind power, fifth in solar power and fourth in renewable power installed capacity, as of 2020.

In recent years, India has brought electricity connections to hundreds of millions of its citizens; promoted the adoption of highly-efficient LED lighting by most households; and prompted a massive expansion in renewable sources of energy, led by solar power. The gains for Indian citizens and their quality of life have been tangible. However, the COVID-19 crisis has complicated efforts to resolve other pressing problems. These include a lack of reliable electricity supply for many consumers; a continued reliance on solid biomass, mainly firewood, as a cooking fuel for some 660 million people; financially ailing electricity distribution companies, and air quality that have made Indian cities among the most polluted in the world.

India jumped 115 positions to 22nd (2020) from 137th (2014) on World Bank's Ease of doing business - 'Getting Electricity' ranking. The Indian power sector is forecasted to attract investments worth $128.24-135.37 billion between FY19-23. The future of the sector looks bright since by 2026-27 the country's power generation installed capacity will close to 620 GW, of which 38 percent will be from coal and 44 per cent from renewable energy sources. Electricity energy generation from Renewable Energy Sources (Solar, Wind, Hydro & Bio Power) has increased from 193.5 billion Units during 2013-14 to 306.3 Bn Units during 2020-21 showing the CAGR of 6.8 percent.
