BARRE, VT: Northern Power Systems –a manufacturer of wind turbines and provider of engineering development services and technology licenses for energy applications- has announced a tie up with BTI energy –a provider of distributed energy solutions- to install wind turbines across the U.S.  

As per the deal, BTI would use Northern Power systems’ NPS 100-24, which is, a permanent magnet/direct drive distributed wind turbine, to install wind projects. The turbine comes with a 21 or 24 meter rotor and has a power rating of 100 kilo watts. Designed for low wind conditions, it starts making power at wind speeds of 3 metres per second and maximum generation can be achieved at 12-15 mps. On the other hand NPS100-21 which has a 21 meter rotor is suitable for high wind conditions and can withstand wind speeds up to 59.5 metres per second.

NPS 100-24 has a gearless design and comes with an ultrasonic wind vane, anemometer and 22, 29 and 37 metre tubular steel monopole towers in order to meet local tip height restrictions .Its low noise profile and colour help in minimizing the acoustic and visual impact for simpler planning applications .It has an active yaw drive with automatic cable unwind, and wind and speed sensors.
